Helmut Herzfeld’s father Franz Herzfeld, aka Franz Held, 1862-1908, Poet, Socialist Writer. John Heartfield later designed a dust jacket for a book of his father’s poems.

John Heartfield, director of the Military Education Film Service (later called the UFA). Was dismissedin 1919 for calling for a strike after the murder of Liebknecht and Luxemburg. This is one of my favorite photos of Johnny. An original print rests on our mantle at home.
