John Heartfield’s met his third wife, Gertrud (nee Fietz), during his stay in England. Gertrud cared for Jonny until his death in 1968. Until her own death, she exchanged many letters with Jonny’s son and grandson in New York. Many of those letters will be published on this Exhibition in the John J Heartfield Words section.
